Cabin Trip

It has been a couple of months since we had our amazing cabin trip, but it was so awesome I thought I should still blog about it.  In earlier posts I joked that they should make a reality show out of our vacation attempts, this one was so much smoother, but probably just as fun to watch!  My husband's side of the family is so much fun to be around, and I'm not saying that just because I know some of them read this!
Every other year or so they have tried to plan a fun family trip where we all stay together in a cabin for a few days.  We have been to Yellowstone, Moab, and this year, Bear Lake.  There were 38 of us and my bro in law found this unbelievable cabin!  It was over 9,000 square feet, complete with indoor slides, movie theater room, and huge playroom that had a basketball court and tramp! You jealous?

Our kids were ecstatic!  The Bug was especially, and he kept saying "Grandma, Audrey."  No, Grandma's name is not Audrey, that is his cousin.  He says that when he wants to go to Grandma's.  He LOVES all his cousins and wants to play with them.  The only mishap that happened on the way down was that we couldn't keep him in his seat.  He kept getting out of his seatbelt and trying to roam around the car.  The Bug has a built in compass, and I think he was confused because we were going somewhere new.  Good news is, we made it to the cabin!

The trip was so much fun, and my husband and I got a killer work out thanks to the Bug.  As I mentioned above, there were indoor slides and the slides went down to each level.  So we would follow him down the slides to each level, 3 in all, and then run with him back up the stairs, sometimes into the huge playroom where we would go up and down on the see saw.  We did this over and over.  You might say, "Why not just let him play?"  Each level had several exits, and he might surprise you and run out one.

The first night sleep was rough, as usual, but the next two were much better.  We had a talent show, went and skipped rocks in the lake, and just had fun being all together.  I am so proud I can finally say I can skip rocks.  My thanks to my 11 yr. old nephew for being such an expert teacher.

We were pleasantly surprised how well it went, and the whole extended family wants to make this our new place.  Our kids keep asking when we can go again.  This past weekend we got our little cooler out to take to a parade and the Bug got so excited. He grabbed his bean bag and pillow pet that he sleeps with and wanted to get in the car.  He thought we were going to the cabin! When we told him we weren't going to the cabin, he had a meltdown.  The meltdown was not fun, but we were glad that he wanted to go back.  The picture below is him after he came down one of the outside slides.  He hurt his hand and is saying, "Oh."  Good times!

  2. That place looks amazing! I'm glad your little bug had such a fun time, and that you all made it back in one piece (vacations are exhausting for parents of special kids!)
