My Little Runaway

Many people have heard this story before, but it is a good one, so I needed to post it.  I might add it takes a lot of swallowing my  pride to share this, but here it goes.
It was Sunday morning, and I had to take Doo Doos to the Instacare to make sure her leg wasn't broken from hurting on a slide the night before.  We still needed to make it to church and Hubby needed to shower and we knew the only way for him to shower with me gone, was to put Bug in the bath.  So I left, and normally after someone leaves the house we latch our door so Bug cannot get out.  Hubby was focused on the shower and didn't give it another thought and he forgot to latch the door after me.   He put Bug in the bath, and then got in our shower.  He hurried to get showered and when he got out Bug had come in our room straight from the bath.  Hubby proceeded to get dressed and Bug left our room.  Then he heard it...the garage door opening, and he knew it wasn't me.  So Hubby was trying to throw his clothes on and catch Bug.  He asked Boy to follow him and when Hubby got down there Boy pointed in the direction he thought Bug had gone.  Hubby headed up the street in a panic knowing Bug was streaking through the neighborhood, but he had no luck.  The kid in his birthday suit was no where in sight.  He headed back home to get in the car to look for him.  Bug is so fast, he could be anywhere.  As he was coming home, someone called out to Boy, "Are you looking for Bug?"  He had made it over to the church which is across the street from our house.  They had found him!  Bug is obsessed with the telephone by the Bishop's office, so he went in the church.  Luckily, our ward priesthood leaders were about to start a meeting right by the door where Bug had come in.  The men said they had never seen our Bishop move so fast.  The men at the meeting all took off after him, and one covered him up in a suit coat.  It was such a hard day!  We were so embarrassed and scared at the same time.  I know that it is no coincidence that Bug chose to go where he did, and that people who knew him just happened to be there.  It could have gone so differently.  He could have ran anywhere and someone who didn't know him could have found him.  I know that Bug is protected in ways I can't explain.  There are so many times that he could have gotten hurt or lost, but it seems he is always safe.  Days like this are hard, but I know that he is one of Heavenly Father's most precious spirits, and that is what keeps us moving on.

  1. How scary, but at the same time, what a great lesson to learn. He has those on earth to help protect him as well as heaven. Thanks for sharing!
