Let's Begin!

I have had a lot of people suggest that I should blog about all the crazy experiences and adventures that we have with our son.  He is a precious boy that has autism.  Our story is like so many people out there and we don't have all the answers on how to best help him, but everyday we are trying our best.  My purpose in this blog is to share some stories that at the moment they happened, they were terrifying, but afterwards all we could do is find the humor.  I think that is one way that we cope.   I also hope to share some of the everyday miracles that we see with our son.  Because to some people, they may seem insignificant, but to us, they are amazing!   The first story I wanted to share happened last night.  It is short, but funny!  (Well at least to me.)
I was trying to get the dishes done last night, and there was one dish that needed to soak.  So I left it in the soapy water and went downstairs to talk to my husband for a minute.  I wasn't down there for long when I heard my other son calling, "MOM!!!"  He is really good at helping us watch out for his brother.  I dashed up the stairs, and there he was, "taking a bath" in the sink, in his pajamas.   He was even trying to take the suds and wash his arms.  He loves water, and any opportunity he has to take a bath he goes for it.   Usually he takes his clothes off first, even if it is at the Dinosaur Museum in front of a group of people, or when we pass any kind of body of water.  It could be a fountain, a pond, or anything remotely wet.  He just wants to get clean I guess.  Last night I guess he was so excited he didn't have time to take his pajamas off.

  3. Being clean is a good thing! I think this blog is a great idea for sharing ALL the moments. I hope you are saving it for when you are old and gray - I have fun looking back at the excapades of my children...most of the time. Sometimes I wondered if I truly loved being a mother. That lasted for about two seconds when the answer would come to the affirmative. You and Mike are TERRIFIC parents!
